Monday Motivator: Meet Ryan

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I moved to Buffalo just over a year ago from the Hudson Valley Region. I started my weight loss journey about 6 years ago and have lost 120 pounds, maintaining consistency through Buffalo Run Club and Rev. I mostly workout so I can enjoy the Buffalo restaurant scene without feeling guilty. When I’m not at Rev, I work as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor, play with my dogchild, Josie and watch a ton of sports on TV.

What does #RevLife mean to you?

RevLife to me means giving 100% effort and doing the best you possibly can in everything you do. It‘s maintaining a healthy mindset and outlook.

We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?

I think about what I want to accomplish during my workout. I set a goal and work towards it throughout the class. It also helps me to think about the fact that I can eat more food the more calories I burn.

What’s your favorite class at Rev?

If personal training counts then my sessions with Mandy. Otherwise probably Run and Strength with Kathleen.

What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?

An Aaliyah on sourdough from Breadhive. But substitute bacon for the sausage.

If you have friends visiting from out of town how do you show them the perfect Buffalo day?

It would include brunch, Wegman’s, walking around Canalside and kayaking at Riverworks.

What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?

Toss up between Black Sheep and Billy Club.

Early bird or night owl?

I would say early bird, or at least I’m trying to be.

What’s your ideal rest day look like?

Sitting on the couch and watching Big Mouth.

What’s your Favorite guilty pleasure song?

Get Your Freak On by Missy Elliott or X Gon’ Give it to Ya by DMX.

If you were shipwrecked on a deserted island which 2 luxury items would you want to have?

My phone and an endless supply of Sea Salt Caramel Gelato

Cats or Dogs?

Dogs 100%.

If you were to win $100 million today what’s the first you do?

Book a trip to go to Australia and then become a full time stay at home dog dad.
