Monday Motivator: Meet Colleen
What does #RevLife mean to you?
Motivation. The trainers are great at pushing you when you need it most and my workout family pushes me to show up, work hard, and play hard.
We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?
When I am feeling like I want to quit, my mind is all over the place until I find the thought that works. Sometimes it’s my old standby mantra “the faster you run, the faster you’re done,” even though that doesn’t really apply to timed classes (it works sometimes, thought!). Usually, what works better is focusing on my next half marathon PR or telling myself “you can do anything for 2 minutes!”
What’s your favorite class at Rev?
RevRun and Run+Strength. Running is my favorite workout and stress reliever, so adding in the things I never do on my own (cross training, speed and hill workouts) has really helped me with my speed and endurance.
What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?
Pizza for lunch from Gino & Joe’s. It’s my guilty pleasure, but I only eat it on days I work out. And, because I go so often, the pizza maker will always ask, “hard work-out today?”
If you have friends visiting from out of town how do you show the the perfect Buffalo day?
I love to show off Buffalo and its history. So, I love to show people the amazing architecture we have downtown. I would also take them to Canalside and then a food and brewery tour. In the summer, I love the free fitness classes at Canalside and the relaxing views of the water. We also have great food, and I love to eat. So food and drinks it is!
What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?
Hotel Henry, I love everything about it!
Early bird or night owl?
Neither? Both? I hate getting up early, but I hate wasting the day, so that’s one of the ways Rev has helped me – early classes for the win! I also love the nightlife and live music too, so enjoying late night fun is something I always love to pack in.
What’s your ideal rest day look like?
What’s a rest day? Ideally, I would love a day where I can sleep in, sit on the couch and order in take out. But, between work and travel, I can’t remember the last time I did that.
What’s your Favorite guilty pleasure song?
Anything by Michael Franti or 80s hairband music
If you were shipwrecked on a deserted island which 2 luxury items would you want to have?
This is hard! It sounds nice to not be connected for even a little bit, but I would get sick of being alone really quick. Do friends count as luxury items? I’ll take friends and a radio – people you love and music make everything better.
Cats or Dogs?
If you were to win $100 million today what’s the first you do?
A huge vacation with my family and closest friends. I am a firm believe in memories over things, so I would want to make the best memories with the people I love, without worrying about how much it costs.
