Monday Motivator: Meet Matt and Katie
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
We currently live in North Buffalo, and both of us grew up in the City and spent most of our lives here. Katie moved to Cleveland for College and when she moved back to Buffalo a few years after graduating, we met at a mutual friends Halloween party. We now have a 3 year-old, Ben, and an 8 month old girl, Madison. Katie works as a project manager for an Ad agency in Downtown Buffalo and Matt works as the Controller for a Tim Hortons Franchisee in Amherst. We spend most of our time chasing around these 2 maniacs and our Golden Retriever, Ella.
What does #RevLife mean to you?
Katie and I both started our fitness journey together before getting married. We help motivate and push each other even on those days when we don’t feel like it- Rev is now just a normal part of our routine.
M: I love the extra push that all the Rev instructors give, Emily and Lauren have no problem forcing me to swap out a higher weight mid-rep.
K: Rev is a way to get away from the stress…from the chaos of life…it lets me jam to some great songs and walk away feeling great!
We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?
We both like to let go of the day or week and focusing on the workout always helps us clear our head.
What’s your favorite class at Rev?
M: I’m almost always found upstairs in the new RevLab- Mandy and David’s TRX Express always push me and I feel stronger after every class.
K: RevRow – its a love/hate relationship.
What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?
M: I usually make a quick blueberry/banana/yogurt protein shake or an egg sandwich (and grab a few TimBits on my way into the office).
K: Whatever Matt makes me.
If you have friends visiting from out of town how do you show the the perfect Buffalo day?
We would start out at the EV Farmers Market with some Butterblock pastries and some iced double espresso from Cafe Aroma. Then we would probably head down to Canal Side, stroll through the Elmwood Village or take a ride out to East Aurora. We’d cap it off with a babysitter and head to Roost or Dapper Goose.
What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?
Our house. Matt does most of the cooking and going out to restaurants with a 3 year-old is not very relaxing these days.
Early bird or night owl?
Now: Early birds. Pre-kids: night owls
What’s your ideal rest day look like?
Getting a babysitter and grabbing dinner and drinks with friends.
What’s your Favorite guilty pleasure song?
M:“Bad” – David Guetta
K: “Born to be Yours” – Kygo/Imagine Dragons
If you were shipwrecked on a deserted island which 2 luxury items would you want to have?
M: My Chefs knife and one of my black Under Armor headbands
K: A bottle of Napa Cabernet that refills itself.
Cats or Dogs?
Dogs- our Golden Ella is about 90- 95 lbs and probably needs to take a few Rev classes.
If you were to win $100 million today what’s the first you do?
Give away half and then go back to Italy. We’ll need a babysitter to tag along if you know of anyone!
