Monday Motivator: Meet Jocelyn

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a 29-year-old Occupational Therapist who works at Buffalo Psychiatric Center. I grew up in Genesee County and then came to Buffalo to attend D’Youville College. I am happy to be back in Buffalo after spending some time towards Rochester. I enjoy challenging my body with a variety of work outs and staying active outdoors during every season. I am also a big Buffalo sports fan #OneBuffalo!

What does #RevLife mean to you?

RevLife to me isn’t just going to the gym whenever I feel like it, it is a part of my daily routine. RevLife is just that, a way of life not just a gym! I look forward to walking into Rev not only for the awesome work out ahead but for the community behind Rev.

We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?

I am a really big music person. I always have music on no matter what I am doing. So, during my workouts I usually get lost in the music. Each instructor has their own music flare, which I love!

What’s your favorite class at Rev?

I love run + strength and RevRide: Rhythm!

What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?

As soon as I get home, I usually grab a spoonful of some sort of nut butter while I get my meal ready. Like I mention below I am really into whipping up a big brunch. During the week I usually take morning classes and I have been into overnight oats lately. My latest recipe includes honey sautéed peaches and greek yogurt over my oats, yum!

If you have friends visiting from out of town how do you show the perfect Buffalo day?

Of course, you have to start your day with a Rev class. Then usually the day is planned around a Buffalo sporting event, whether it be the Bills or Sabres! Good food is always on the agenda…usually a Wegmans Sub or chicken wings and pizza.

What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?

Does my kitchen count? I love cooking up a big brunch at home on the weekends after my morning Rev workouts. On Saturdays I try to hit up the Bidwell Farmer’s market and grab a chocolate hazelnut croissant from Butter Block (try them if you haven’t!) to go with my usual eggs, sausage and fruit!

Early bird or night owl?

100% early bird! My favorite thing about Rev is the 5:15 and 5:45 morning classes!

What’s your ideal rest day look like?

If I was to plan my ideal rest day it would start with a nice big brunch and lots of coffee. Followed by strolling through a farmer’s market and hitting up a local hiking trail. Then most likely ending the night hanging out with friends.

What’s your Favorite guilty pleasure song?

I am still obsessed with Taylor Swift’s, “You Need to Calm Down.” But any Taylor swift or Beyoncé song are my guilty pleasure songs!

If you were shipwrecked on a deserted island which 2 luxury items would you want to have?

Music and coffee!

Cats or Dogs?

BOTH! Preferably one of each.

If you were to win $100 million today what’s the first thing you do?

I would first take care of my family and friends before I travel the world and donate to charities!
