Monday Motivator: Meet Ian
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I’m 48, a criminal defense lawyer, and I’ve lived in the Elmwood Village for most of my life.I got sober at the end of last year. It’s been the best decision I have ever made, but it has been tough at times. Taking care of myself and exercising every day are an essential part of staying on track. I have made a couple of very close friends directly because of Rev that have been a huge support for me. It’s funny, a week or two ago I found the post card that Amanda sent me after my first few visits in July 2017. It’s hard to imagine not coming here now. I think I’m up over 500 visits by now. Time flies and Rev is a part of my regular routine now and it’s 2 blocks from my house. It’s great to have a place to work out so close, where I feel at home.
We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?
I do my best to try and clear my head and stay present and set whatever else is going on aside for a bit.
What’s your favorite class at Rev?
I have tried just about everything and really like rowing, but I am doing a marathon in October so lately I’ve been focusing on a lot of running. I’ve been doing Revrun a few times a week and it’s made a huge difference in my training.
What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?
I usually have a protein shake and a piece of fruit as soon as I get home.
If you have friends visiting from out of town how do you show the the perfect Buffalo day?
Until recently that was a day and/or night of bar hopping. Now probably hit a few of our great restaurants and check out the sights.
Early bird or night owl?
Retired night owl, grateful early bird now.
What’s your ideal rest day look like?
A long walk followed by a good book and a cup of coffee.
What’s your Favorite guilty pleasure song?
I listen to a lot more 80’s hair band cheese than I would care to admit.
If you were shipwrecked on a deserted island which 2 luxury items would you want to have?
My Yogibo bean bag and something to play Spotify with.
Cats or Dogs?
Dogs, definitely dogs.
If you were to win $100 million today what’s the first you do?
Pack a bag and just go!
