Monday Motivator: Meet Rob
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I’m a bit of an introvert so participating in these types of things is outside the norm for me I was born and raised in western NY. I’ve lived in a couple of other states for short stints but mostly the Rough Buff. I’m a General Contractor, big music lover, and I love to be outside doing whatever, especially if it gets the adrenaline pumping, also I have taken on the hobby of beekeeping over the last year and a half which has been a very fun learning experience.
What does #RevLife mean to you?
Revlife to me means a communal space focused on mental wellbeing, community and overall health.
We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?
There are a Cornucopia full of things that can potentially go through my head during a workout, anywhere from stress relieve from my day or week, focusing on core as well as muscle group I’m working, I guess mostly though I focus on the fact I’m very fortunate to have the ability to move with two good arms and legs and that we may only get one shot at this life and potentially one use out of this space suit that was given to me by the universe or who knows what, so try to be good to it.
What’s your favorite class at Rev?
My favorite class at Rev although it’s been tough getting there recently, is Emily’s (a.k.a Revmily) Sunday Rev Row/Strength class, I like when the rower is incorporated within the work out.
What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?
Favorite snack has to be cheezits, yep don’t judge! I love those little squares of cheesy, salty goodness, couple handfuls before, a couple after 😉
If you have friends visiting from out of town how do you show the the perfect Buffalo day?
That’s a good question its rare I have anyone visiting from out of town that’s not originally from here. It depends on the season. summer time, Niagara Falls to hike down near the rapids, or an outdoor concert like Artpark or canalside, maybe a quick ride over the skyway both directions for the view. Winter, gosh, depends on what type of winter day it is, but a few cocktails will probably be involved.
What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?
A lot great brunch places! I’d have to say I’m more of a diner guy, currently Bertha’s on Hertel has been my go to.
Earl bird or night owl?
An early bird in recent years, but depends on what’s going on, if requires a late night I’m for it!
What’s your ideal rest day look like?
A good veg out day I would probably lay on the couch play guitar and watch documentaries, mostly about nature, space, or history.
What’s your Favorite guilty pleasure song?
I’m a huge music fan so I would never feel guilty. No particular song comes to mind but if I had to pick something it would probably be 80’s pop, it’s been etched in my roots being part of the MTV generation.
If you were shipwrecked on a deserted island which 2 luxury items would you want to have?
Can I make the professor from Gilligan’s island an item? So he can help me get off the island, cause you would have to be crazy in the coconut to want to stay, but if the professor isn’t an option id have to say guitar and a telescope.
If you were to win $100 million today what’s the first you do?
If I won $100 million dollars I would disappear for a while without letting anyone know where I was, enjoy that freedom while figuring out how I can go back to my friends and family and use it wisely for them and my community.
