Monday Motivator: Meet Katie
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in the Northtowns, attended college out of the area, and moved to Boston, MA shortly after graduation. I spent some time working in finance but decided to move back to the area nine years ago to attend grad school. Initially when I moved back I thought I wanted to work in education but eventually found my way into a sales role at an energy investment firm. Recently, I solidified my Buffalo roots and purchased a home in the Elmwood Village. I love the transformation I’ve seen in Buffalo and try to take advantage of all the local activities & restaurant scene. In addition to adding Rev to my routine, I like to stay active by cycling & sailing.
What does #RevLife mean to you?
Balance and community. I was introduced to the carriage house by a good friend back in the day and I was forever hooked by the welcoming & approachable environment. For me, working out has more to do with mental health than physical. It’s great to be part of a great community that helps keep the positive endorphins flowing.
We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?
Where doesn’t my head go is more of an appropriate question. First thing in the morning I am usually thinking about what my day looks like or where I’d like to travel next. I really try and reign in my work out by using the energy and music around me; an explicit song or two can usually do the trick.
What’s your favorite class at Rev?
I love them all. My favorite thing about Rev is the variety, but I would say I love RevRow & Strength.
What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?
During the week I am usually working out at 7 am, my favorite way to indulge is share the café breakfast & coffee at Remedy House. Sourdough, prosciutto, and brie cheese. Decadent but delicious and a perfect escape before heading off to work.
What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?
I love the food and vibe at Roost on the weekends and appreciate that the menu is constantly changing.
Tacos or pizza?
I can never say no to a slice of pizza, especially when the pizza is from Buffalo.
Coffee or smoothie?
Early riser or night owl?
My dad always said you can’t hoot with the owls and soar with the eagles. I find that I’m some odd bird that attempts to do both.
Beach or mountains?
I prefer my toes in the sand, preferably with a beverage in hand.
Winter or fall?
Growing up I loved the fall since I was born in November, now I just love summer.
