Monday Motivator: Meet Matt
Monday motivators are back and we couldn’t think of anyone better to kick us off than the self-proclaimed “sweatiest dude in the room” Matt. Read on to see how Matt gets strong and stays strong with the help of his favorite Rev classes (and cold pizza). Happy Monday!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Moved to Buffalo in 2011 from San Francisco with my wife Kate and our first daughter Willa. Second kiddo was literally born in the car on the 190 en route to Sisters. Whoops. I teach Constitutional Law and Legal History at UB law school. Lifetime swimmer and runner and now a cyclist as well. Coldest water I’ve swum in was San Francisco bay; swam the mile from Alcatraz to the beach at Aquatic Park with my masters club. Really into cycling at the moment. I feel pretty cool riding around town on my single speed, even if I look like a dork.
What does #RevLife mean to you?
Scraping myself out of bed at 5:15am. Getting to the studio and realizing I’ve put my stuff on inside out. Being the sweatiest dude in the room. Getting rid of these baby arms and dad abs. Being pushed and working way harder than I ever would alone. Getting strong, staying strong.
We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?
Honestly to stuff I need to do at work.
What’s your favorite class at Rev?
I rarely can fit it into my schedule, but I love rowing.
What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?
Cold pizza from Jay’s Artisan.
What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?
One time we did a New Year’s brunch at Dapper Goose and it was excellent.
Tacos or pizza?
Pizza. always and every day.
Coffee or smoothie?
Early riser or night owl?
Beach or mountains?
Mountains. Adirondacks. Greens in VT. White Mountains in NH.
Winter or fall?
Fall, riding my bike in the cool air, seeing the leaves.
