Monday Motivator: Meet Carrie
‘Tis the season for a little extra motivation – in the form of this week’s Monday Motivator, Carrie! She’s got a pretty positive outlook on life, and channels that energy especially when class gets extra-sweaty. Read on to hear all about her rescue dogs, favorite classes and how she beat childhood cancer. (Go Carrie!)
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born and raised in East Amherst and still live there. I’m married and have 3 awesome rescue dogs who are like our children. I’m a Product Manager for a downtown software company which makes getting to Rev classes easy after work. I’m lucky enough to be a childhood cancer survivor. I was diagnosed at age two and was cancer-free by age four. I like to do everything I can to stay as healthy as possible. I live life to the fullest and take advantage of every opportunity presented to me knowing that we’re not promised tomorrow.
What does #RevLife mean to you?
To me, #RevLife means being able to participate in awesome classes that are both challenging and fun with a great group of people! I have terrible knees and love that when I need to I can take things at my own pace or improvise with my own moves without feeling awkward.
We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?
When I’m spinning I picture myself back in Europe, biking through the mountains. In other classes I think about how if I can beat cancer I can do anything!
What’s your favorite class at Rev?
That’s a hard question! Spinning is my first Rev love, but I also really enjoy Shred…..and strength….and Row+Strength. 🙂
What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?
A cheese stick wrapped with a slice of turkey.
What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?
I don’t get to brunch often, but when I do I love Betty’s.
Tacos or pizza: Pizza. Unless its Tuesday, then it’s definitely Tacos.
Coffee or smoothie: Smoothie – Strawberry Banana to be specific.
Early riser or night owl: Night Owl. You will never see me at a Rev class before 9AM!
Beach or mountains: It’s a tie. They’re both equally beautiful and relaxing.
Winter or fall: Fall. I loved winter as a kid, but as an adult I’m not a fan of having to deal with it.
