Monday Motivator: Meet Joanna

We’re giving Monday an all out  today with this week’s amazing motivator – Joanna. She’s lived everywhere from Buffalo to San Fran to Japan (so cool!) and is a private art consultant (and also, so cool!). She’s as fierce in the studio as she is in life, and we just love having her energy around. Read on to catch her motivating vibes.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. 

I’m a Buffalo native and I’ve lived here most of my life (aside from years at college and living in San Francisco, Colorado, and Japan). Two adorable cats destroy my furniture. Boyfriend in Boston (a Rev regular when he’s here). I’m a private art consultant / non-profit arts administrator who recently took a year off to help some dear friends through an illness. Now I procrastinate on my job search by coming to Rev.


What does #RevLife mean to you?

I’m not super #hashtag-y, but I just really love the vibe at Rev. Everyone (instructors and clients alike) is very focused and positive. If I’m struggling with my form, someone is always willing to share feedback or make a much-needed adjustment so I don’t get hurt. It’s a very down-to-business environment, but there’s always someone giving me a smile or a high-five. It’s a supportive community of great people and I instantly feel comfortable every time I walk into the studio.


We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?

Living well is the best revenge. Oops. Did I say that out loud?


What’s your favorite class at Rev?

That’s tough. For a while I was all about RevFit+Strength with Lauren (and it’s probably still my favorite), but now I know I need to mix up my daily routine with a bit more cardio to get the results I want. I’m really liking the RevShred with Dave and RevMvmt or RevRow+Strength with Mandy.


What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?

If I planned ahead I have a smoothie when I get home (kale, flax seed, protein powder, collagen protein, blueberries, banana and pineapple). If I didn’t plan ahead (more often) you can find me at the co-op grabbing any prepared proteins I can get my hands on, and sometimes eating in my car.


What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?

I never have time these days. If I did I’d go to Roost or BreadHive.

Tacos or pizza?

Tacos forever and ever and ever. Give me all of the tacos.

Coffee or smoothie?

Coffee first. Always.

Early riser or night owl?

I will fall asleep at your party. (Just ask my poor boyfriend.)

Beach or mountains?

Mountains for skiing. (Maybe beach for twenty minutes- I need SPF 1000 and it’s boring.)

Fall or summer?

Fall. I wish it was fall twelve months of the year.
