Monday Motivators: Meet Chrisitne

“There’s such a positive, encouraging, and fun group of people and I’ve made some good friends. I’ve always been active – I was an athlete in high school and I danced in college and I ran a half marathon a few years ago – but I’ve never had such a fulfilling fitness experience like this. All the while, I’ve been able to support not one but two locally- and woman-owned businesses.” – Christine, Monday Motivator

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi! I work in nonprofit healthcare management by day and live in Snyder with my husband by night. My interests range from activism and network-building for social change to MTV reality shows and skincare routines. Most of the time you can usually find me with my dog, a giant long-haired rottweiler named Sally who feels like she needs to be directly next to me at all times. Sally’s the real star of the show around here.

What does #RevLife mean to you?

#RevLife brings together so many things I love. I’ve had a joint membership with Rev and Barre Centric for almost two years now. I’m able to get a great balance of strength, toning, and cardio workouts in my routine and I’ve never been stronger.

But it’s more than just fitness – the community is great. There’s such a positive, encouraging, and fun group of people and I’ve made some good friends. I’ve always been active – I was an athlete in high school and I danced in college and I ran a half marathon a few years ago – but I’ve never had such a fulfilling fitness experience like this. All the while, I’ve been able to support not one but two locally- and woman-owned businesses. What more could you ask for?

We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?

My mind can wander pretty easily! I’m prone to back and knee injuries so I spend a lot of time refocusing my mind on maintaining my form. When that’s all set, I just try as much as I can to be present and not think about what’s happening outside of class. Some days that’s easier than others.

What’s your favorite class at Rev?

Rev Ride. It’s the focus on the music and the beat that draws me in!

What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?

Honestly, I am a dedicated Starbucks fan. I often grab oatmeal or a breakfast sandwich with a chai latte in my car on the way to work.

What’s your favorite place to brunch in Buffalo?

I love a boozy brunch like the next millennial but my favorite weekend stop is Breadhive for the Aaliyah sandwich on a rosemary sea salt bagel with ginger kombucha.

Tacos or pizza? A few years ago, a then-coworker approached at lunch time during a rough day and asked me, just like in the movie Mean Girls, “Do you wanna go to Taco Bell?”. We’ve been good friends – and now fellow Rev clients – ever since. I think you can figure out my answer, and my shameless love for chain restaurants, from there.

Coffee or smoothie? Smoothie.

Early riser or night owl? Early riser. I like morning workouts – I have so much more energy after during the day.

Beach or mountains? Beach! I love the ocean. My husband and I went on a mid-winter escape trip to the Gulf side of Florida with friends earlier this year and it was one of the best times we’ve ever had.

Fall or summer? Fall is the Elite Season. I’m here for any time of year that allows me to wear leggings 24/7.
