Monday Motivator: Meet Lauren

“When I moved home I was looking for that team environment that would keep my body, heart and soul healthy. Revolution is that place, and I love coming in to see everyone’s smiling faces, ready to sweat and reach our best selves every class.” – Lauren

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi Rev family! I am originally from North Buffalo, but absconded to New York for college and then on to work Dublin, Ireland for about 5 years. I moved back stateside 5 years ago, and have been proud to call Buffalo my hometown once again since 2014 (though I have a habit of travelling back to Dublin, for work and to visit friends.) Having swam through high school and rowed D1 in college, when I moved home I was looking for that team environment that would keep my body, heart and soul healthy. Revolution is that place, and I love coming in to see everyone’s smiling faces, ready to sweat and reach our best selves every class.

What does #RevLife mean to you?

Revlife to me means going to a place where every time you walk in, there’s an opportunity to find and feel your best self. The community, positivity and smiles that greet you each time are what keep me coming back.

We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?

I have two zones I go to – if I’m feeling good, then I’m totally in the workout 100%, focusing on my form and pushing those boundaries. If I’m not running on all cylinders, I zone out to a different place, trying to distract my mind from feeling my body by recalling an old boat race (or visualizing a dream race.)

What’s your favorite class at Rev?

My favorite class is Brandon’s 9:45am Rev + TotalBody. He always pushes you to the limit, and has the best jams and a great smile. It sends my weekend in the right direction (when I manage to listen to my alarm ha).

What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?

I love a good bagel sandwich from Breadhive post-Brandon.

What’s your favorite dinner spot in Buffalo?

I love grabbing a cheeseboard and some wine at the bar at Black Sheep! Second up is hitting the bar at Lloyd for some cracked potatoes and margs. (I’m seeing a trend here.)

Tacos or pizza?

 Coffee or smoothie?

Early riser or night owl?

Early riser – unless that one margarita gets in the way

Beach or mountains?

Spring or summer?

Spring – sprint season!!! My freckles are not a fan of the summer sun
