Monday Motivator: Meet Britt

Born in Australia, grew up in Bermuda and lived in Scotland for 4 years? AND she works in the Collections department at The Buffalo History Museum? This week’s Monday Motivator is a walking storybook! Get to know Britt and all her wonderfulness in the Q&A below!

Tell us a little bit about yourself. 

I was born in Australia, grew up in Bermuda, lived in Scotland for 4 years, and have called Buffalo home for the past 6 years! I married my high school sweetheart almost 4 years ago (we went to boarding school in Canada together) and we live in the Elmwood village with our black lab, Cupar. Buffalo is actually a lot like Bermuda (except for the winter thing) – everyone seems to know each other or is distantly related to one another. The degrees of separation here are pretty minuscule and I’m always surprised. I work in the Collections department at The Buffalo History Museum which means I get to see all the stuff that no one else really gets to see – no day is the same and I’m just about always on the go!

 

What does #RevLife mean to you?

#RevLife means pushing myself out of my comfort zone (at Rev, at work, etc.) and constantly appreciating what’s around you! I think #RevLife is so important through the winter – I find them really brutal some years but it’s so much easier to get through when you can be active in it (skiing, hiking, snow shoeing, ice skating etc.)

 

We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during a workout?

I get organized the night before (so i’m not hunting for that elusive left shoe at 5am) and I really try to keep my head in the workout! As soon as I feel myself thinking about my to-do list or the meetings I have later that day, I do everything in my power to bring it back to the class (esp if I’m doing TRX).

 

What’s your favorite class at Rev?

Anything at 5.45am! Colleen’s AM RevRide is always awesome and I’m a big fan of the Rev+UpperBody/LowerBody/Core classes! I started doing PT with Mandy a few months ago and it’s been a game changer for my strength!

 

What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough workout?

Whole grain toast, Vegemite, avocado and a fried egg (plus a very large cup of coffee)!  Sometimes i just need a nap instead of food though…../

 

What’s your favorite dinner spot in Buffalo?

Toutant, closely followed by The Grange (and only because The Grange is technically in Hamburg….not Buffalo).  The Hot Chicken at Toutant is the greatest thing in this world. (Okay, that might be a lie, but you get the idea.)

 

If you could choose your superpower, what would it be?

To breathe underwater! I spent so much of my childhood in the ocean and having to breathe frustrated the hell out of me. (Really crushed those ‘mermaid-goals’ I had as a kid, too.)

 

Who would play you in the movie version of your life?

I phoned friends for this one – responses were as follows: Mila Kunis, Zoey Deschanel (because of the glasses) or Natalie Portman.
