Monday Motivator: Meet Erin
It’s for sure a Monday. Let’s not think about it for a few minutes and get to know Erin a little better! When she came in for her first class, she was thrown into a Rev+Core format and admittedly was not a fan of TRX. We offered to get her in for a one-on-one walkthrough of how the suspension trainer works, and it turned into regular bi-weekly personal training sessions that we look forward to as much as she does. It’s been such a privilege to be with her through an engagement, job change, and the incredible change in confidence (full disclosure: there was an extra burpee thrown in every time we heard “I’m sorry” during a set of moves!). Now you’ll see Erin in the 5:45am classes three to four times a week (TRX included!)
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
HI! I was born and raised in Fredonia, New York and I recently moved to Buffalo about three years ago after living and working in New York City and Boston, MA. I’m so happy to be closer to my family and friends and to experience the resurgence of Buffalo. I live in the Elmwood area and work at The Roswell Park Alliance Foundation where I’m the Manager of Corporate and Fundraising events, one of the biggest events that I help with is The Ride For Roswell. I’ve been spending my free time exploring the city, traveling as much as I can, and being with family and friends.
What does #RevLife mean to you?
I love Rev!! #RevLife means community, family, teamwork, support and motivation.
We all get in the zone in different ways. Where does your head go during class?
I keep telling myself that I got this, I have a wedding coming up this summer, you can do it! I really just try to block out “life” for an hour to focus on me and what makes me feel good.
What’s your favorite class format at Rev (RevRide, IndoRow, etc.) and why?
My favorite class at Rev would be the RevRides. I love spinning, especially the hour classes. I can’t get enough. The music and the energy is just the best way to workout.
Why do you personal train at Rev?
The short answer, someone to whip me into shape both physically and mentally. The long answer, when I first moved back, I was going out a lot, meeting new people, enjoying the wonderful food staples Buffalo has to offer, but I didn’t like what it was doing to my waistline or how I felt about myself. I was nervous to take the classes that were half spinning/half strength as I was intimidated and not confident in myself. So, I decided that I would try out a trainer to have that one-on-one experience! I went back and forth, saying to myself..can I afford this, do I need to this etc.? Well… Let me tell you, it was the best decision I have ever made! I love training, I feel stronger, healthier and most important I have more confidence, enough that I’m not nervous or intimated to go to other classes that Rev has to offer. So, thank you!
What’s your favorite meal/snack to eat after a tough class?
It depends on when I’m taking the class, if it’s in the morning I will eat a hardboiled egg with some avocado or if it’s an evening or during the day I will eat hummus with crackers or veggies. However, there are times that the snack might not be the healthiest…but why not, I will work it off the next day. (#BALANCE!)
What’s your favorite dinner spot in Buffalo?
There are so many great options in Buffalo. However, I would have to say that Sinatra’s is my favorite. I have been going there since I was little, brings back a lot of memories.
If you could choose your superpower, what would it be?
Without a question, it would have to be teleportation!!!
Who would play you in the movie version of your life?
Either Sandra Bullock or Kristin Wiig.
