Monday Motivator: Meet Caryn
It’s Monday and you know what that means! Meet Caryn: she spins, she strength trains, she gets her workouts in both pre-dawn or post-dusk. Whatever her schedule, she finds a way to make it happen. She even developed a new hobby (see below). We have to admit, we had to look it up! Caryn’s personal Instagram account makes us hungry, and her new linocut Instagram makes us want to channel our own inner creative. Read all the way to the end for her two truths and a lie!
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Thanks for the nomination! Just recently, I discovered that I’m 94% Eastern European, although I’ve not yet been able to conquer the Polish language! I’m very detail oriented, which lends itself well to my fascination with typography and printmaking, and new found skills as a beginner linocut artist. In love with Buffalo’s ever evolving food and drink scene. I might be obsessed.
2. How do you stay motivated to come to class, especially on days when you’re just not feeling it?
Getting up for a 5:45 a.m. class on a Monday morning can seem tough. Some days it is! Making sure you’re prepared to go the night before with everything you need sets you up for success, especially when you don’t remember turning off your first wake up call. Once you’re at the studio, Lindsay keeps you motivated to give it your best. What better way to get the week started than with some mind boosting confidence and self-care!
3. What are some little ways you stay active every day?
I climb the six flights of stairs when I get to the office and try to make my way up and down the stairwells throughout the day. My best day yet is 31 flights! On warmer days, I love to explore the walking paths of Stiglemeyer park. You must check this place out stat!
4. What song gets you totally pumped during class?
A No Doubt remix. Stefani is a such a strong, positive role model. She puts it all out there and gives it her all.
5. Who are your Rev ride-or-dies? (Workout buddies who keep you accountable.)
The instructors positive and approachable ‘you can do this’ attitude really helps to keep me on track.
6. What’s something random you always have in your gym bag?
Migraine medication. Over exertion is one trigger for me, so I keep close tabs on my water intake and BPM during a session. Exercise helps to diminish the frequency and intensity, which is such a relief!
7. Give us two truths and a lie!
I earned a yellow belt in Krav Maga.
Somewhat obsessed with pizza and tacos.
I studied culinary cuisine in Italy.
