Monday Motivators: Meet Kaci

After a two week holiday hiatus, our favorite feature is BACK. We couldn’t think of a better way to kick of the 2018 Monday Motivator series than with Kaci. She’s been a Rev regular since 2016, sweating with her awesome boyfriend Tom and her friend (and fellow Motivator) Adrienne. During 2017, she logged 204 classes! When she’s not at Rev, she’s staying active by tucking and pulsing at Barre Centric or renovating her house. We love Kaci’s enthusiasm, energy and swooning over her adorable dogs on Instagram!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I moved to Buffalo is 2007 to study Management Information Systems at UB. After graduating, I decided to stay and I have been a Buffalonian for over 10 years now! I love to travel as often as I possibly can; long weekend trips are my usual getaways. I am an IT Project Manager who totally geeks out over analyzing & organizing data. I have two rescue dogs, Charlie & Rupert. They are the reason I live. A year ago my boyfriend Tom and I moved into a home that was previously his grandmothers. It hadn’t been updated since the 60’s (think brown EVVVERRYYTHING), we have slowly been renovating the house top to bottom.  It has been a huge learning experience but I absolutely love it and now want to have my own HGTV show. Flip or Flop Buffalo? I think yes.

2. How do you stay motivated to come to class, especially on days when you’re just not feeling it?

I was a varsity sprinter for indoor and outdoor Track & Field for 6 years. Between school, practice & a part time job, my schedule was always very structured, that structure has stuck with me. I sign up for classes, usually a week in advance, and I stick to it no matter how I am feeling that day. I also work from home, which is amazing, but at the end of the day I’m itching to get out of the house, Rev has consistently been my go to after work for over a year now.

3. What are some little ways you stay active every day?

Well, I first start my morning with Queen: Don’t Stop Me Now, it’s my alarm and favorite song (I’m not sure how Tom puts up with it). I drink a tall glass of water then, being a list maker, I make a list of what I want to accomplish for the day (aside from work, these days it’s mostly renovation tasks / errands). I CANNOT sit still so lists keeps me focused. Crossing items off is the best feeling! My two pups also manage to keep me on my feet most of the day.

4. What song gets you totally pumped during class?

Early 2000’s rap or anything JOCK JAMS. My uncle bought me all the CD’s when I was in elementary school and I have been obsessed ever since. Imagine an 8 year old blasting Jock Jams on her boombox, jumping around uncontrollably while her parents are yelling at her to turn it down & calm down >> my childhood.

5. Who are your Rev ride-or-dies? (Workout buddies who keep you accountable.)

Adrienne! I met her at Barre Centric last year, she asked what else I did to work out, and I of course just raved about Rev and said she HAD to come! Now we secretly compete with each other during class to keep us both at 100%.  And of course, Tom when he isn’t drowning with school.

6. What’s something random you always have in your gym bag?

Neosporin Lip Renewal – BEST lip balm on the planet.  Go buy it. I have one in every coat pocket, on my dresser, desk, nightstand…etc.

7. Give us two truths and a lie!

I have hiked the highest peak in the Northeast.

I have been on a flight that was struck by lightning and lost power.

I have gone cage diving to swim with sharks.
