Monday Motivator: Meet Kristi

Yes, it feels like January 75th, but believe it or not, it is finally almost February. Our last Monday Motivator of January is Kristi. In 6 months, she has completed over 100 classes, rocked #RevHunt2017, and always manages to look like she’s having fun, no matter how hard the workout. Last week she and the rest of the 7am RevRow+Strength crew completed a 2,000 meter row AFTER they’d already hustled for 30 minutes. Talk about impressive!

 

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a Buffalo native who took a brief hiatus to Geneva, NY for college and to work for Hobart and William Smith Colleges after graduating. I came back in 2015 and started working for the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo as a fundraiser. I’m getting my master’s part time at Canisius College and I will finally be done in May (woo!). When I’m not working, studying, or sweating it out at Rev you can probably find me cooking, trying out all the new restaurants in Buffalo, travelling or snuggling up with Boomer and Zoe, our family dogs – puppy snuggles are the best snuggles. Notice the food theme? It’s why I need Rev.

How do you stay motivated to come to class, especially on days when you’re just not feeling it?

Sometimes it’s hard, especially those 5:45am classes, but knowing that I only have an hour or two (who doesn’t love a good double session?) a day to really devote to myself and unplug gets me there. All of the competitions have been extra motivating too – sorry for making you stay late for wall sits that one time Colleen!

What are some little ways you stay active every day?

On most days I’m usually staying fit with Rev, but other than that I try to park far away in the parking lot at work or take the stairs, the eleven flights up will never not leave me winded! I like to try new workouts (either at Rev or other studios) every so often and when the temperature isn’t negative five you can find me skiing on weekends I’m in town.

What song gets you totally pumped during class?

Anything Beyonce or late ’90s. If I know the words to the song you can usually spot me singing along – that gives me that extra push

​Who are your Rev ride-or-dies? (Workout buddies who keep you accountable.)

Natalie, Missy (when she isn’t travelling all over for work), and knowing Amanda will know if I miss a class definitely keeps me motivated.

What’s something random you always have in your gym bag?

Extra socks. Once you forget socks one time you make sure you never forget them again, the worst.

  1. I’ve played or coached ice hockey for 21 years .

  3. I’ve been to 5/7 continents … Asia and Antarctica I’m comin’ for ya!
