Monday Motivator: Meet Susan

Start your Monday off on the right note with a little jump-start from our friend Susan! A PA who is new to Buffalo, she hasn’t missed a beat when it comes to staying fit and active in a new city. From Rev classes to walks with her goldendoodle Macaroni, and living within walking distance to Delaware Park and Hertle Ave, she’s got some awesome habits we’re happy to take some inspiration from!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

As a former competitive swimmer turned runner and cyclist (indoor and outdoor), a great day for me always includes a good workout. I just moved to Buffalo in July, and after being an occasional weekend Rev visitor in the past, I am super happy to call Rev my new sweat sesh home!  I live with my boyfriend, Tyler, and our five month old goldendoodle puppy, Macaroni, and in my not-free time I work as a Physician Assistant.

How do you stay motivated to come to class, especially on days when you’re just not feeling it?

I make sure to schedule my classes in advance.  Most of the time I’m hitting early morning classes because I work 12+ hour days and know that getting in a workout at 9:30 or 10 pm just isn’t going to happen. I love feeling like I’ve already accomplished so much before 7 am – it makes the early wake up totally worth it!

What are some little ways you stay active every day?

Keeping up with Macaroni definitely helps me stay moving. I’m also lucky to live in close proximity to both Delaware Park and Hertel Ave, and enjoy my neighborhood by going for runs in the park and walking to drinks, coffee, and Lloyd on Hertel.

What song gets you totally pumped during class?

I’m a total sucker for throwback pop hits. I still remember the time I was at one of Amanda’s classes and MMMBop came on and it was the BEST.

Who are your Rev ride-or-dies? (Workout buddies who keep you accountable.)

Like other Monday Motivators before me, I am currently in search of some best Rev-buds! (Can we start a club?)

What’s something random you always have in your gym bag?

Dry shampoo – it’s a sweaty hair lifesaver!

Give us two truths and a lie!

  • I once jumped 1,000 times in a row on a pogo stick

  • I’m fluent in French

  • I’ve never broken a bone
