Monday Motivators: Meet Brittany and Lauren
Not only do besties Lauren and Brittany crush every workout they touch at Rev (they do 60 minutes of personal training with Mandy 3X/week!) they are the dream team behind the new Rev website. Uber talented, this graphic design and UX developement team helps us bring our brand vision to life in creative and cool ways. AND Brittany has been doing just that since day one … she’s the official designer of the Rev logo! If you haven’t met these ladies yet, be sure to say hi this week. They’re spreading awesomeness wherever they go!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Brittany: I recently got married! I live in North Buffalo. I’m a graphic designer at Roswell Park. I love photography, decorating bake goods, getting my ass (can I say ass in this thing??) whooped by Mandy and hanging with my family (especially the coolest niece around, Ava McCrone!).
Lauren: My name is Lauren Daly … newly Lauren Bobeck. I’m a Syracuse native who’s heart belongs to Buffalo. I’ve been living here for about 4 consecutive years now. I work at Crowley Webb downtown as a UX Developer. And, I currently live about an 8 minute walk from my door to Revolution’s.
How do you stay motivated to come to class, especially on days when you’re just not feeling it?
B: Revolution is fun! Lauren and I have been working out doing private training for 5-6 months with Mandy and she keeps it exciting. Its a great way to get stress and anxiety out while hanging out with friends.
L: My “little buddy” named Brittany. She’s small, but feisty! She was the one who convinced me to start personal training with Mandy 3x a week for 60 minute sessions. Like most things Brittany convinces me to do … she was right in that it was a great decision!
What are some little ways you stay active every day?
B: I try to go for walks on my lunch break as often as possible! Roswell has an amazing campus with a huge garden area – makes for a great place to explore!
L: I chose to park in a lot 5 minutes away from my building so I can get some healthy steps each day … plus it’s affordable! I also am a natural climber. If there is a huge snow bank formed on the side of the road, I’ll stop and climb it.
What song gets you totally pumped during workouts?
B: Beyonce – Get Me Bodied … POWER by Kayne West … or basically anything by these two.
L: Fortunately, mine and Brittany’s morning sessions overlap with two spin classes. So we get to hear bumping music from two different instructors. I tend to really get pumped up Tuesday mornings after Colleen’s class tracks wake me up and then Rachel turns on her “get crunk” music (or at least what I call it). I instantly feel like I can bust out another pushup! It’s the perfect way to start off my morning.
Who are your Rev ride-or-dies? (Workout buddies who keep you accountable.)
B: Ummmmm isn’t it obvious?!?! My partner in crime – LD!!! haha She’ll drink wine with me one night and work out with me the next…its a good system we have going here!
L: Well … obviously my best little bud Brittany! And Mandy, our trainer! But when we aren’t swinging kettle bells and doing tabata interval training, I love hitting a class with as many of my girls as I can find. It’s usually our good friend Marghi Montagnola who is our honorary Rev Ride organizer!
What’s something random you always have in your gym bag?
B: Cuticle trimmers! Never know when you might get a hang nail!
L: FUN FACT: I don’t typically use a gym bag. Mostly because I would find random socks and water bottles with stale water in them too frequently. So I just bring the essentials that I can carry … keys, phone, water bottle.
Give us two truths and a lie!
B: Oh this is fun! 1. I’m almost 6 ft tall! 2. I designed the Revolution Logo! 3. I have a 16 + year old dog!
L: I’m a terrible liar … but I’ll give it a go! 1. I’ve played competitive soccer all my life 2. I hate cilantro 3. My sister that is 10+ years younger than me
