Monday Motivators: Meet Ann

This busy mom of two littles and one giant dog makes it all work with the help of a supportive hubby and scheduling her Rev classes like appointments. Anything 90’s gets Ann jammin’ during class (us too!) and she’s got an amazing set of “two truths and a lie” at the bottom of the Q&A. Are you as stumped as we are?!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m from San Francisco and have lived in New York, Chicago and even India for a few years- but Buffalo is my new and, hopefully, my forever home. Two years ago my husband, a Buffalo native, and I decided to give Buffalo a chance and we haven’t looked back. We have two little kids, and a giant dog.  I work at a foundation, focusing on education. I have been in this work for 15 years all over the world and the commitment that the Buffalo community has to do bigger and better things is unique and awesome.

How do you stay motivated to come to class, especially on days when you’re just not feeling it?

Fear of the cancellation fee – kidding! (kind of). With a full-time job and a full fledged family I have to work hard to carve-out work-free and mom-free time. Rev class makes it easy for me to do that because I just schedule it into my week. So even when I’m exhausted, it’s on the books and I know I’ll get something from coming to class, even if it’s just tuning out everything else and sweating to good music.

What are some little ways you stay active every day?

My 4 year old loves to race, climb, jump, and play and her 1 year old little brother follows suit so I run around refereeing. If I were really committed I’d do a squat each time I had to pick a sticker or a toy off the floor, but for now, playing with them, walking the dog and coming to class are plenty.

What song gets you totally pumped during class?

I’m a music nerd but I’m also a child of the 90’s so any classic from that era like Beastie Boys, Salt-N-Pepa, Dr. Dre, are really cool to hear.

Who are your Rev ride-or-dies? (Workout buddies who keep you accountable.)

My husband is super supportive. We each prioritize one another’s time to work out and that totally makes balancing all that is on our plate a little easier.

What’s something random you always have in your gym bag?

I have a giant everything bag, part work, part gym, part life, and this makes most of the stuff super random depending on context.  But right now the most random thing is a plastic roach.
