The Un-Recipe Recipe Series: Lauren's BLT Chicken Salad Stuffed Avocados

You know all the ways we like to sweat. But what is the RevTeam eating for fuel? We'll be sharing some of our favorite meals and snacks more regularly, with easy to follow "un-recipes." This is how we're "cooking" - and we're betting you are too!

Up your lunch game with Lauren's craveable combo of avocado, bacon and chicken salad. Cottage cheese makes a high-protein alternative to traditional mayo.

Lauren's BLT Chicken Salad Stuffed Avocados
3- avocados
12- slices of turkey bacon
2- cups shredded rotisserie chicken
2- Roma tomatoes
2- cups cottage cheese
1- finely chopped romaine

Bake turkey bacon with directions on package. When done, let it cool then cut into small pieces.
Cut avocados in half, discard pits, set aside.
Dice tomatoes into small chunks (discard or eat the seeds). Chop up romaine into small pieces.
In large bowl blend in tomatoes, romaine, cottage cheese, shredded chicken, and bacon.
Put 1/6 of salad mixture on avocado halves.
There will be a good heap on the avocado but the pit doesn't create a big divot.
Salt and pepper to taste.

Monday Motivators: Meet Natalie

One of the most wonderful things about Rev is that no matter how busy our lives get, we get to spend some quality time with great friends via a sweat sesh. Meet Natalie, who frequents RevExpress, but heads out to RevCity on the weekends for some girlfriend time if there's a coffee and catch-up planned after class. Every week Nat gets stronger and stronger during that killer arms song during spin and on the TRX straps. Make sure you take a second to say hi to this all-around sweetheart when you see her!

Bike Stations 101

FullSizeRender (36)

Did you know? When you reserve a bike through our website schedule (all linked into everybody’s favorite booking tool, Mindbody), all you have to do is show up. No rushing to get there obnoxiously early to stake out “your bike” like a vulture. (Because don’t we all get to a point where we feel like we literally own the bike we ride day in and day out?)

Maybe you’re the cycle superstar gunning for the bike right up front that lets you lock eyes with the instructor on more than one, one-gaze too long occasion. Or you’re the rider that chooses a bike to make you feel like you blend into the pack a bit more. Or you’re bringing your BFFs and you want to make sure you’re all in the same row. And maybe, just maybe, you saw a really cute guy/girl who always sits on bike 12, and by picking bike 11 you’re guaranteed the opportunity to strike up a conversation.

Whatever the reason you choose “your bike,” book it and relax, knowing you’re not going to get stuck in the corner if you get there last. At Revolution you get what you came for. Try it out…we hope it makes you feel like a VIP!

See our schedule and book your bike here for RevExpress or RevCity.

Please note: Unfortunately if you log in to book directly through Mindbody or the Mindbody app, this feature is not currently available. But no worries, you’ll receive an email with a bike assignment just for you.

Monday Motivators: Meet Marianne & Lauren

We're a sucker for a mother-daughter duo, especially Marianne & Lauren. They hustle, they challenge each other to work harder, and they always laugh at our jokes. Whether they are working out together, or on different schedules, they keep active, healthy and get some quality family time in too.

The Kelly's
1. Give us a quick background on yourself.

L: I'm a Buffalo girl who loves traveling, fitness, and food! I went to college at Fredonia where the freshman 15 got me going to the gym. Luckily a friend and I decided to train for a sprint triathlon and I've been hooked on working out ever since. This year I was able to bring my love of traveling and fitness together and ran 4 half marathons in 4 different states. I was (and still am) so happy that I started coming to Rev because even without training for something specific I'm always excited to come to class!

M: Have two amazing children.  Recently moved from Orchard Park to Kenmore.  I'd been working out at a killer early morning boot camp at the Y in OP, so was so excited when Lauren introduced me to Rev so I could continue my 5:45 am workouts.  Work at New Era and have been in Buffalo for long enough to call it home.  Was born and raised in Pennsylvania

2. Describe your best workout ever in just three words.

L: New personal best

M: Challenging and energizing

3. What song(s) are you obsessed with right now?

L: I love music and my favorites are constantly changing! This week I can't stop listening to Galantis - Love On Me and Milky Chance - Cocoon

M: Hmmm.... It's the holiday season so all I hear in my head is Christmas music!

4. How do you help each other stay motivated to workout?

L: We both use our Garmin watches to track workouts so when I get the notification that she did her 5:45 am class I don't really have an excuse to not go after work.

M: Accountability.  If Lauren is going to class with me, having her there gets me up and out to class. When she can't go to the early morning classes, I know she's going to ask me about them and I'm a terrible liar!  I have to go so I can tell her how it was.

5. Any healthy habits to start/end your day?

L: I'm all about drinking water! I always have a glass before going to bed and first thing in the morning.

M: Starting my day with a workout always makes the day go better.  By the end of the day, I love to soak in a hot tub - not sure how healthy that is, but after getting up at 5 am to get to my workout, it sure feels good!

6. Favorite move on the TRX?

L: Atomic push-ups

M: Anything that includes a bridge.

7. Buffalo food truck you can't live without?

L: Black Market Food Truck

M: Haven't been to too many food trucks, but am a huge fan of Jim's Steakout - best Chicken Finger sub in Buffalo (you did say food I can't live without, right?  Not necessarily healthy food??)

8. Favorite holiday or winter tradition?

L: Holidays are all about family and baking for me! We always make these meringue Hershey kiss cookies and a Yule log cake for Christmas. Two of my favorite desserts but we only make them this time of year.

M: Decorating for Christmas with my kids the day after Thanksgiving and ending the day with a viewing of Home Alone

9. What's the best thing about working out together? How do you help each other stay motivated?

L: It's always so fun working out with my mom, she always keeps me laughing. She also makes it easy to tell how hard I'm pushing myself based on how many times a class she tells me to stop showing off :)

M: Best thing about working out together is going out for breakfast after Saturday's RevFit.  Otherwise, having her beside me to tell me when I'm slacking, while annoying, is also motivating!!  She also helps me keep track of what I'm supposed to be doing

There has never been a time where I regretted getting up to work out rather that stay in bed.
P: Rachel points to my stomach and gives me a look ...

5. Any healthy habits to start/end your day?
R: Drink a glass of water as soon as I wake up; and stretch/foam roll to try to prevent injuries.

R: Planks all day! (With mountain climbers to raise the game.)
P: Squat jumps - love and hate.

7. Buffalo food truck you can't live without?
R: Lomo Lomo – amazing flavors and food combinations .
P: Lloyd's.

8. Favorite holiday or winter tradition?

P: Preparing our house for the holidays with Rachel as we host family and friends on Christmas day.
